The sixth edition of our annual Making Moments event unfolded in Gauteng this month, bringing our signature Salon Series to the heart of the city for three unforgettable evenings, hosted at Untitled Basement. Designed as an intimate celebration of creativity, the series explored the intersecting worlds of fashion, art, and music—each night dedicated to a different discipline, yet all connected by a shared spirit of expression. Guests embraced the dress code, Shades of Chardonnay, setting a refined and cohesive tone across the evenings. Hosted by Maps Maponyane, the series created a welcoming space for both storytelling and dialogue. Each night honoured women shaping their respective fields. The opening evening celebrated women in music, featuring a moving live performance by Msaki. The second evening turned to the visual arts, with Lulama Wolf sharing her work and creative perspective. The final night focused on design, as Lezanne Viviers presented selected pieces from her collection. More than a showcase, the Salon Series was designed as a conversation. Guests were invited to engage directly with the artists, creating meaningful exchanges that went beyond the surface—offering insight into process, inspiration, and the realities of creative work. Making Moments continues to evolve as a platform where culture, creativity, and connection meet—each edition building on the last, while staying true to the idea that the most memorable experiences are those shared.

‘Rupert & Rothschild’s fifth Making Moments edition introduced The Salon Series—an immersive, thoughtfully curated pop-up experience inviting guests to pause, reflect, and engage in meaningful exchange. Inspired by the timeless tradition of literary and artistic salons, The Salon Series became a sanctuary for dialogue, connection, and the celebration of legacy, purpose, and craftsmanship. Over three evenings, the series explored different dimensions of creativity and culture. The first night, titled “A Legacy of Style & Craftsmanship,” featured Tshepo Mohlala, the Founder and Designer of Tshepo Jeans, alongside TV Presenter, Actor, and Entrepreneur Maps Maponyane. Celebrating excellence in business and entrepreneurship, Making Moments is grounded in leaning into ‘the luxury of focus and the luxury of time’ – a quintessential feature in the creation of Rupert & Rothschild’s three premium wines since the brand’s inception in 1997. We presented the third volume of our illuminating Making Moments series. Themed ‘A Seat at the Table’, the evening celebrated women who have forged successful pathways, creating space and opportunities for representation and new voices in creative industries and professions – while using their influence, power and position to shift the spaces they are in. Inspired by the African folklore tradition of storytelling around a fire, Rupert & Rothschild presented the second edition of Making Moments: Fireside Conversations. To echo the brand’s focus on its three distinctive wines, we learned from three creative industry titans as we celebrated excellence in business and entrepreneurship. The ‘R&R Milestones’ experience – inspired by our insights from audience research that Rupert & Rothschild is synonymous with moments of success and quality time – presented a sophisticated opportunity for the business minded to be inspired by stories of how some of the most distinctive South African brands were built. The experience was presented as a series of conversations with titans of the local creative industry, namely Legend Manqele, Sylvester Chauke and Theo Baloyi. While hosted live for a select audience the experience was live beyond the moment by being streamed online and documented for amplification across our platforms. So as not to feel like a ‘sponsor’ but rather a natural partner to the audience and experience, the story of the brand and what the brand stands for was strewn into the dialogue of our engagement and subtly introduced into the décor and venue design. Whilst not a typical wine tasting or pairing event, as so frequently presented by our competitors, this was an immersive and purposeful brand experience that truly elevated and embed our positioning in the minds of our audience.
