Celebrating excellence in business and entrepreneurship, Making Moments is grounded in leaning into 'the luxury of focus and the luxury of time' – a quintessential feature in the creation of Rupert and Rothschild's three premium wines since the brand's inception in 1997.
We presented the third volume of our illuminating Making Moments series. Themed 'A Seat at the Table', the evening celebrated women who have forged successful pathways, creating space and opportunities for representation and new voices in creative industries and professions – while using their influence, power and position to shift the spaces they are in. Visionaries Desireé Markgraaff, Nunu Ntshingila, and Zoë Modiga shared their unique, diverse, and connected stories of path-making and placemaking.
The third edition of the series was again hosted by accomplished podcaster and founder Mashudu Modau of 'The Mashup Podcast' and performing live was award-winning musician Bongeziwe Mabandla.
The intimate gathering was held at the Circa Gallery - this edition presented a curated, art-focused experience against the fitting backdrop of Keyes Art Mile – a centre of culture, art and design in Johannesburg.
Inspired by the African folklore tradition of storytelling around a fire, Rupert & Rothschild presented the second edition of Making Moments: Fireside Conversations.
To echo the brand’s focus on its three distinctive wines, we learned from three creative industry titans as we celebrated excellence in business and entrepreneurship.
This intimate gathering brought together Chris Weylandt, David Higgs, Ofentse Pitse and our host, Mashudu Modau, for an evening of meaningful connections, informative conversations, and inspiring stories.
Designed to spark inspiration, relaxed with us, as our speakers shared their stories of passion, perseverance, courage, and commitment through storytelling around a fire – with you – featuring a performance from the critically acclaimed South African Venda folk singer, Muneyi.
The ‘R&R Milestones’ experience – inspired by our insights from audience research that Rupert & Rothschild is synonymous with moments of success and quality time – presented a sophisticated opportunity for the business minded to be inspired by stories of how some of the most distinctive South African brands were built.
The experience was presented as a series of conversations with titans of the local creative industry, namely Legend Manqele, Sylvester Chauke and Theo Baloyi. While hosted live for a select audience the experience was live beyond the moment by being streamed online and documented for amplification across our platforms.
So as not to feel like a ‘sponsor’ but rather a natural partner to the audience and experience, the story of the brand and what the brand stands for was strewn into the dialogue of our engagement and subtly introduced into the décor and venue design. Whilst not a typical wine tasting or pairing event, as so frequently presented by our competitors, this was an immersive and purposeful brand experience that truly elevated and embed our positioning in the minds of our audience.
